This is a really good and detailed method but I didn't want to install any custom recovery yet.

Thank you for both of you but I found the easiest way in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...4-1-2-t2116549

I flashed the superSU from stock recovery and everything went just fine. This root can be applied to any 4.1.2 stock fw.

But I really appreciate all your help!

You can flash XXMS1 base kernel too without messing up with your phone. If you want to install this rom or any custom rom you will need custom recobery which philz, apolo, dorimanx has. Without custom recovery you can't flash it.

You should ask this in the Apolo forum.

Oh... wait... you already did, and got an answer from @pedestre

I know that I have to use custom recovery. Previously I had a galaxy mini 2 which I used to practice these things (I installed a lot of ROMS without bricking it ).

Which custom recovery do you recommend? For now I only used CWM, but I've seen TWRP and philz recovery too.

Which one is the best and safest for S2?

For i9100 . there is no separate kernel and recovery.
They both come together.

Again this is upto you to decide.
Like in my case I prefer philz/cwm over twrp anyday.😅

One more thing for this phone to be the best of the series!

I haven't tried philz but it looks kinda familiar after cwm. To be honest there is no major differences I think.

But I will stay at cwm too.

I just now have to wait until the stock ROM gets me so frustrated that I will have the courage to try and install a different ROM!
